A Bunny and A Turtle

May is almost over, so I will be hanging up the knitting/crocheting of amigurumi in order to finish up some other projects that I’d like to do- like finishing up Juliet! I am such a procrastinator at times! But before that happens I have 2 new creations to show off. 🙂

So cute! I used about 1/2 of a skein of Bernat Satin in Flamingo Pink. I didn’t do such a hot job of lining up the head onto the body, so that is where the bow comes in. It masks the imperfections a bit I think. 🙂 Fun and quick knit. This was my first knitted toy since Scotty, when I taught myself how to do magic loop. I used size 8 needles, but if I had it to do over again I would use 6s with this yarn. It’s a little bit too stretchy – a problem that I am currently having on my current amigurumi project. Ugh. I think that this is why I prefer crochet amigurumi. Anyway, I think my embroidery skills may have improved a bit on this project. I am doubtful as to whether this is a continuing trend. 😐

I’ve wanted to make this for so long! I really enjoyed it, but that shell was not fun! For him I used 1 skein of KnitPicks Shine Sport in Green Apple and about 1/2 skein in Grass. I am planning on making another using Lion Brand Microspun in girlier colors, but I am going to have to hang back for a while. The applied i-cord took me a long time and I was worn out at the end. I have to get my resolve up for that before I go for round 2!

The fate of these 2 creatures is still up in the air. I had a plan for them, but that might not work out, so in the meantime they are hanging out at my house with the rest of my stuffed menagerie.

Ten on Tuesday: 10 Favorite Time Wasters

Time for Ten on Tuesday!!! Tomorrow I will have not one but TWO FOs to show off! 🙂

Ten Favorite Time Wasters

1. Ravelry – this should come as so surprise! I love to reorganize my queue!

2. Reading blogs and my google reader – thanks to my google reader and Perez Hilton, I am up to date on SO MANY celeb goings-on.

3. Napping

4. Reading – I don’t really think this is a ‘time waster’ necessarily, but I do this at times when I should probably be doing something else…like cleaning!

5. Making lists – a lot of the time, I will make a list about what I really should be doing, or re-write a list that I’ve already made b/c I think it’s too sloppy. I did this a lot while I was in college.

6. Knitting dishcloths

7. Facebook – Lil Green Patch is my favorite time wasting application 🙂 I also love SuperPoke!.

8. Just sitting. Especially on Saturdays.

9. Worrying. This is not a favorite, but unfortunately I have wasted a lot of time worrying over things that I shouldn’t have. I hate this about myself!

10. Watching TV – I put this at the end of the list b/c very rarely do I watch TV and do nothing else. Most of the time I am watching TV and engaging in some other activity, like knitting, cooking or reading during commercials, something to that effect.

FO: Sleeping Baby Sheep

When I saw this crochet amigurumi pattern, I KNEW that I HAD to make it! I love lambs, as some of you know, and you’ve met Lamby, so this one seemed like a given!! I finished her up on May 5, so Margarita seemed like an appropriate name.

I used about half of a skein of Lion Brand Jiffy in white and some Lion Brand Wool Ease in Oxford Grey. I was hoping that the Jiffy would be a bit fuzzier but it wasn’t! I should have used a more novelty yarn, like Lambie Pie from Hobby Lobby, but I honestly CANNOT stand the way that yarn feels on my hands. You might recall that I started a baby poncho out of that – it now resides in the county landfill. But a fuzzier little lamb would be adorable! Maybe I will make another one when I find some appropriate yarn that I can stand to handle! 🙂

I am hoping to finish up Sheldon this weekend – All I have left is the shell. Then I will start on another one for another little baby I know in girlier colors.  Amigurumi May is almost over and I still have plenty to do!

Ten on Tuesday: 10 Movies I’m Excited to See

10 Movies I’m Excited to See:

1. The Dark Knight – I loved the last Batman movie and this one looks like it’s going to be really good.

2. Confessions of a Shopaholic – This is one of my FAVORITE book series, so I can’t wait until the movie comes out! Although, I never pictured Becky as a redhead…

3. Get Smart – I used to love watching this on Nick at Nite. Steve Carell is hilarious.

4. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian – I wanted to go and see this last weekend, but it just didn’t work out. Maybe I can go this weekend. 🙂

5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall – Only because Veronica Mars is in this. I love her!

6. Wall-E – This looks cute, even tho I don’t really know what it’s about! Will wait for this one to come to video probably.

7. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 – I didn’t even know they were making this movie!! Loved the first one. (I’m a dork)

8. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince – Will be seeing this one with my mom I’m sure – in November!!

9. P.S. I Love You – I read the book years ago (It was sad!), so I am curious to see how they’ve updated it. I’ve heard that the letters are updated to emails, or voice recordings or something. This is in my Netflix queue.

10. The Bucket List – also in Netflix queue.

I watch a lot of movies, but most of the time I don’t get really excited over one. This list was fairly hard for me! I was going to put 27 Dresses on there, when I found out the category last week, but I watched that on Sunday! 🙂

I’m Tagged!!!!

I’ve been tagged by Michelle!

“The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.”

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?

I was 16, so in high school! I think by this time I had my first boyfriend and was looking forward to going to Europe that summer!!! I was working at Fred’s – the height of coolness I am sure. 🙂

2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order):

knit some on an amigurumi for a baby gift, watch Dancing with the Stars, fold some clothes, finish up supper, do today’s lines for the Monthly Dishcloth KAL

3) Snacks I enjoy: Oreos, cupcakes, Reese’s ANYTHING! (also like Michelle, evidently I enjoy sugar by the spoonful!)

4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

realistically: buy yarn! I’d also buy a Porsche 911 and a new house for me and my fiance for when we get married. If I were a billionaire I’d also give to plenty of charities like St. Jude and lots to my church and missionaries.

5) Places I have lived:

Chattanooga, TN; New Orleans, LA; Corinth, MS; Oxford, Ms

6) 5 peeps I wanna know more about- Stacie, Maria, Karen, Hakucho, and Ellen Bloom! If I’ve tagged you and you don’t want to play along, that’s ok! 🙂 If I didn’t tag you and you DO want to play, let me know! 🙂

I am still completely unmotivated to blog! I blame Ravelry, I feel that once I put a picture of my project up on there, I am finished with it. Not so! I have been a blog-neglecter and it’s starting to pile up on me!

Here is an amigurumi that I completed back at the beginning of the month for my friend, Amanda, who has been the lucky recipient of many of my creations over the past few weeks/months! This is Algernon’s little sister, Priscilla.

Priscilla was made using the Happy Hippo pattern that I found on Ravelry when I decided that Algernon needed a sibling! I wish I had a photo of the two of them together because Priscilla is definitely a LITTLE sister! 🙂 She’s very tiny!

I used a small amount of Caron Simply Soft in Soft Pink and a 4.0 mm/G hook. Very quick and fun!

Amigurumi May is still rocking on! I have 2 more FOs to show and one in progress. I’ve also frogged 2 projects, the Baby Yoda Sweater I started back last year (Actually I didn’t frog this, I just threw in the garbage. The simply soft was not worth saving IMO!) and the Ribbed Shrug I started back in March using Lion Brand Cotton Ease. I really did not like how stretchy it was and knew that it would make my arms look FAT! Not a good thing. I’m still chugging along on Juliet. I think I have about 6 more lace repeats to go, so that’s about 4.5 hours! One repeat takes me about 45 minutes.

Yesterday I started the Babette Blanket – finally!!! I have had to wind up many skeins of Koigu, thankfully I have a swift and ball winder otherwise this project would probably be stalled indefinitely! It is my hope that I can have this project finished by the time I wed in August. Wish me luck!

Just in Time for Summer!

I started these back on March 7, and on May 13 called them finished! 🙂 I started these for Malabrigo March using about 3/4 of a skein of merino worsted in Hummingbird.

The first mitt really flew off of the needles and I didn’t have ‘2nd mitt syndrome’ because I DID start the other one right away. I just didn’t get in a hurry to finish the 2nd one b/c it soon became too warm to wear them. So it sat. The only thing I had to do to cross these off as a FO was to knit the thumb. I finally did that yesterday. It took about 20 minutes. 🙂

I did much better on the 2nd thumb than the first. I had to go back and sew up a hole on the first, but I figured out what I had done wrong, so the 2nd one was much better! This was my first project where I had to leave an opening and then go back and create the thumb. Fun!

I have been sick/coughing so I haven’t really felt like waxing lyrical about my knitting projects for the last week. I do have 2 amigurumi to show off, and I am currently working on 2 more for baby gifts. Since my love is trying to put a ban on all things cute, I have decided that I will just knit them for lucky babies and THEN throw one in for myself every now and then. Maybe he won’t notice! 🙂 😉
